The River and the VolcanoRoute: Sidemen - Gunung AgungSidemen is a typical Balinese village tucked away in peaceful green valley, a great place to start a Bali trek. It's the quintessential rural image of people do their washing in the river, farmers working in the fields and carts slowly rolling along the dusty tracks. On the horizon the majestic volcano beckons and if you've got the stamina you can climb all the way to the summit. You'll be staying in a rustic cottage in the green valley within walking distance of the river. You can build your own Indonesia trip using our range of bite-sized Indonesia tours. Day 1: Arrival SidemenIt's the first day of your Bali trek adventure and the moment you arrive in the beautiful green valley and settle in to your cottage, you'll feel instantly at home. The owners of this small-scale accommodation focus on the spiritual side of things, so if you want to enhance your general feeling of well-being you can take a meditation and spiritual awareness course during your stay. Then again, simply enjoying the wonderful location and surroundings may bring you all the inner peace that you need. From your accommodation you can follow the path down to the river for a refreshing swim in the cool water that flows from the volcanic mountains. In the afternoon, we can offer you an optional walk through the valley (lasting 3-4 hours) with a local guide for an up-close encounter with the rural life of Sidemen. |
