It is born out of the idea that there are hardly any independent travel options available for more adventurous travellers. Our Indonesia trips are very individual, so we're able to use small-scale, authentic accommodation with local character and warm welcomes. With Rickshaw Travel, you won't find large group coach tours but instead travel by trains, buses, private car, planes, and minibus. Flexibility and independence are fundamental, which is why we organise as much or as little as our clients wish. In addition we are also members of ABTA (ABTA number Y0484). This means that in the unlikely event of our insolvency, any land only trips are 100% protected (i.e. where international flights haven't been booked through us). |

Completing my course gave me the desire to go off and explore all the countries that I had been learning about and experience the variety of cultures and ways of life first hand.After saving up I set off on a 6 month adventure around South-East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. During my time travelling, one of my favourite destinations was Indonesia. Highlights of my time there included experiencing the wondrous sunrise at the Borobudur Temple in Java and completing my Scuba Diving certificate - as anyone who has dived in Indonesia knows, the waters there are amazing! With such a vast diversity of cultures, people and the most outstanding scenery, Indonesia will definitely be a country that I will return to again and again. |

The people make you feel very welcome no matter where in the country you are. That is probably the only thing I’ve found to be the same across all the islands, as the culture, nature, religion and even the language change every time you arrive on a new island.The coral reefs, amazing marine life and beautiful beaches are probably the things that will make me come back to the country time after time. The diving is world class, and the diversity of life found here is just incredible. Visiting Borobodur and Prambanan were certainly the highlight for me during my last trip. Then there’s the beautiful nature, giant volcanoes, the orangutans, the komodo dragons, the beautiful rice paddies and I could just go on and on. This country has so much to offer, it’s hard to believe. |

Haydn WrathDirectorIndonesia Travel Plan is run by Haydn Wrath.I left the University of East Anglia in 1984 and escaped what seemed a very grim England by spending the rest of the 1980s travelling independently and working myself round the world. During this time I put in some usual stints as an English teacher in Tokyo, a landscape gardener in Sydney and a tarmac layer's assistant in Alaska. In 1990, I joined Bridge the World Travel Centre in London as manager of the World-wide department, where I was able to put my degree in Politics and Philosophy to good use! I fulfilled my ambition to set up a specialist travel company in 2001 when I founded Travel Nation, and later in 2007 set up Rickshaw Travel and Indonesia Travel Plan. I have travelled independently to Indonesia, and was amazed by the landscape, and charmed by the people and the atmosphere there. Indonesia has so much going for it that it really can be all things to all people. Also of course, in common with so many other visitors, when in Indonesia, I am in food paradise...especially that Nasi Goreng they do.... |
