Where to stay in Indonesia - Indonesia Accommodation

Indonesia accommodation

During your Indonesia trip you'll stay in Indonesia accommodation that reflects the character of your surroundings. You'll experience a wide variety of styles and standards of Indonesia accommodation, for example you might spend a night with a local village or in a deluxe cottage on a tropical island.

Whether you've built your own trip using our bite-sized Indonesia tours or chosen from our range of suggested holidays in Indonesia, we try to use only authentic accommodation with lots local character, and therefore steer clear of international chains. We personally ensure that each property has the right combination of features such as cleanliness, location, friendly staff and good service. We're confident that you'll enjoy our Indonesia accommodation options just as much as our previous customers.

We use a pool of Indonesia accommodation in each destination, which means that if one hotel is full, we are able to offer another of equal standard. Once your booking is confirmed, we'll send you a comprehensive list of the hotels you'll be staying in.

Special Stay Accommodation
- Category 4

Location and comfort are the two most important factors when selecting suitable hotels for this accommodation category. Our choice of hotels in this category are priced slightly higher than our standard accommodation but it offers you something extra special.

Our special stay accommodation offers you either a unique view of your surroundings or a little something extra in terms of atmosphere or quality of facilities. Our charming beach bungalow on the Bukit Peninsula falls into this category as does our Pemuteran beach resort. We can upgrade in most of the beach resorts, including Bali. Please ask one of our travel specialists for tips on where to add a special stay to your itinerary.

Comfortable Accommodation
- Category 3
- Standard for Indonesia Travel Plan

A warm and inviting atmosphere, small-scale charm, cleanliness and a favourable location are our top priorities for this category and this includes most of the accommodation that we offer. A sense of privacy and some comfort are also important during travel, so we'll book a private room with an en-suite bathroom for you as well.

You can expect a mid-range guesthouse or hotel, usually air-conditioned. Sometimes you will even find a swimming pool on the premises. The guesthouse where you will stay during our Bogor trip is an example of this level of accommodation as is the rustic cottage in the valley where you'll stay during our Gunung Agung trip.

Simple Accommodation
- Category 2

Sometimes, when deciding where to stay in Indonesia, there aren't too many options, or the accommodation isn't as important as what you'll experience when you step out of your front door. Our simple accommodation category offers you modest, yet reasonably comfortable accommodation options.

You will still have your own room even though the accommodation is more simple than some of our other options. For example, during our Tana Toraja trip you will be staying in an authentic Toraja-style hotel which is ideally situated in the valley of Rantepao. Similarly, during our Minangkabau trip you get to stay in a Sumatran-style cottage with a pool that's surrounded by volcanoes, lakes and traditional villages.

Basic Accommodation
- Category 1

In this category you really will be going back to basics! If you are trekking up to the Rinjani volcano in Lombok then you will spend the night in a tent on the Rinjani crater rim. This is the best way to experience the magical sunsets here and the location can't be beaten.

Another example of this level of accommodation is our Toraja Homestay trip where you get the opportunity to spend the night with a local family in a traditional saddle house. Although the facilities are quite basic, it's a once in a lifetime experience and the local family will make you feel right at home.
Where to stay in Indonesia - Customer Feedback

Previous Customer Feedback

The hotel in Saur in Bali was lovely as was the hotel in the Gili islands. Brian L

It is easier to say we loved all the hotels because of different character, friendliness, excellent meals, pools etc - always clean. The guest house in Malang was certainly different with the help yourself, do it yourself attitude but all very friendly & a mixture of clientele. Ubud accommodation was very special & beautiful. Christine L

Each hotel was quite special and each had its own charms so, very difficult to single one out as a favourite. Elizabeth C

The resort in Pemuteran in North Bali was stunning, unique, wonderful! It was so restful and tranquil, and the restaurant was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A wonderful place! The hotel in Sanur was lovely - botanical gardens and having breakfast overlooking the sea - beautiful. Gareth H
